The Levitical priests had to offer sacrifices daily and on the Day of Atonement and for their sins. Furthermore they were selected from among men as representatives for them before God. Contrastingly, Jesus is the heavenly High priest who did not have to offer a sacrifice for Himself because He was faultless; but He understood our condition and offered Himself as the sacrifice only once for all of our sins.
