He’s also a fighter in his attitude. The never give up attitude when trying to get the 10-foot wooden poll through the four-foot-wide gate. And fighting to stay alive so he could see one of his masters before passing away, after fighting a dog who was stronger than he was.
2. Gentle: Even though he enjoyed fighting, Rex would only bite the other dog’s ear. Not the throat like many dogs do, but playfully on the ear. My dogs at home do this too in a playful fighting way. He didn’t bite people, didn’t chase squirrels or cars. He did kill a few cats, but the author described

There is nothing like being ready to enjoy a delicious meal, and then realizing that the meal will be consumed in the presence of a smacker. A smacker can be defined as: the person at the dinner table that parts their lips noisily in eager anticipation of food, drink, or other pleasures. If there were ever a someone that could ruin good food, it would be the person too focused on the food and totally disregarding the awful noises coming from their muzzle. My hatred for smackers can most closely be compared to Farhad Manjoo’s hatred for dogs in the short essay: No, I Do Not Want to Pet Your Dog. Manjoo makes it clear that he believes there is a time and place for dogs, and that he will never be a fan of them.…

When thinking about the Civil War, the 620,000 men who fought and died in combat is what comes to mind, but what is not talked about are the over 400 women who died right beside them. The reasons men went to war were because they were proud of their country, they were able to leave home, they got to go on an adventure, and they earned money. Women joined the war for the same reasons, but with the addition of having freedom (Righthand, Jess. " The Women Who Fought in the Civil War."). One such example was Jennie Hodgers--known as Albert Cashier on the battlefield-- who was enlisted in Illinois and fought for the entire Civil War without being caught.…

In chapter two of Favro’s, The Urban Image of Augustan Rome, Favro paints a picture of Republican Rome before Caesar’s Civil War and captures the tension within the branches of the government and the inefficiency of public services thereby creating decay in infrastructure. As seen from both readings, both authors endeavored to define the topography of a city, but used different approaches to reach their point. Favro used the experience of two figures walking across the Mons Capitolinus for the last time before leaving Rome to describe in narrative form the situation of the city, while Beard relied on…
