This paper presents Carol Ann Duffy as one of the biggest talents in British poetry, whose poems in the Worlds Wife reflect her very feminist point of view; this aspect helped her to become the first woman appointed poet laureate in Great Britain in 2009. First and foremost, the author´s use of images and literary devices to show man and woman relationships in which she is treated like an object of possession and at the same time she is the one who enjoys being a terrible creature and taking revenge of men attitudes and actions. Thus, evidences taken after a close analysis of three poems: Little Red Cap, Pygmalion´s bride and Medusa, first reveal how the woman is living under the men authority and desire; second show how woman claims superiority to be main character in the adapted versions of fairytales, fables and myths presented by this poet; third provide events to illustrate the way men has been leading the society in many aspects making her feel weak and inferior and fourth indicates the …show more content…
The quote” How nice breakfast in bed” (Little red cap) shows a comparison between the breakfast and the girl this allows the reader to understand the dominance of the man in a relationship; furthermore we can see in this alliteration “The wood would lead me into the woods, away from home, to a dark, tangled thorny place” (Little red cap) the feeling of a girl when she can’t escape from her misery, because after having sex with the wolf she became his possession taking into account that the woods symbolizes sex . On the other hand, by using possessive pronouns like is shown in the Pygmalion´s bride tittle Duffy remarks the dominant male figures and their control over women, by remarking their voice in the
