In Animal Farm by George Orwell the animals came to a decision which was…that they didn’t want to deal with cruelty by the humans anymore so they came up with a rebellion. The pigs became the leaders because they were the most intelligent. The pigs as leaders took advantage of the other animals by changing the 7th commandments every so often, and making them work while they sit there doing nothing. In the end the pigs turn out to be just like the humans. In Julia Alvarez’ In the Time of the butterflies the 4 sisters Maria, Patria, Minerva, Dede lived in the Dominican Republic where the government Trujillo controlled the citizens. The Mirabel sisters develop their personalities throughout the chapters; they become brave, confident, and intelligent. The sister’s go against the evil Trujillo, Minerva did everything and anything to defeat the regime or Trujillo. Trujillo doesn’t like people who go against him so he assassinates the sisters. He puts them and their husbands in prison. In the recent Freedom house report, “Freedom in the World 2015”, the civil and individual liberties of people living in Central African Republic are described at length, giving the country rating of 7. …show more content…
In the Animal Farm the pigs represent the government. The pigs control the animals with abuse. An example would be when the pigs made the other animals work all day and starve them. In The Time of The Butterflies Trujillo controls the people of the Dominican Republic by controlling what is said about him and actions made towards him. Lio gets put in the newspaper to be made out to be an insidious enemy of the state (75). In central Africa Republic the government controls the citizens by monitoring what is said and done in the country. In addition Central Africa Republic and Trujillo control their citizens in similar
