In The Phi Delta Epsilon: Pre-Medical Fraternity

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a boss is, “a person who exercises control or authority.” In the Phi Delta Epsilon (PhiDE) International Medical fraternity New York Delta chapter, the bosses of the potential new members are Sylvia Ayoub (Vice President Recruitment), Christina Walker and Jordan Moass (Recruitment Chairs). On wanting to join the pre-medical fraternity, we were to ardently follow and abide by the rules and standards set by the recruiting VP and chairs. Of the rules, the main ones are greeting each member by first and last names when we see them, collect a minimum of $5.00 from recyclable materials and complete 10 hours of studying. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a rule may be defined as, “a prescribed guide for conduct or action.” The rules are set in place not for anyone to fail but to show the ability that the potential new members are up to the standards of existing members and to form a closely-bonded family. …show more content…
Hence, ignoring your boss’ rules will have an equal and opposite reaction, it may be: punishment, loss of your or someone’s life, property damage, physical or emotional harm to someone, or even writing a two-page paper. Historically, ignoring your boss or someone that is in a leadership position mostly never went well, which meaning a better-expected result rarely happens from disregarding a boss. Instances go back to biblical days of the Old Testament Bible for Christians and Jews. Where in the first covenant, God promised the children of Abraham, the ‘Promise Land’, otherwise known as Canaan. God then sent Moses the ten commandments, the rules God sent for them, that must be followed if the children of Israel was to get their Promised Land. They broke these rules continuously and repeatedly, some unapologetically. Hence, their consequence was not getting the promised land until they stopped sinning and breaking the commandments

Throughout history, the time period of the Old South, has been thought to be uncommonly poor in the area of knowledge and uneducated. However, it has been proven and placed throughout many pieces of literature, that the Old South was predominately strong in knowledge. as is demonstrated throughout Robert F. Throughout my time here at CMU, I have been a brother of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and one way our group has passed along important dates, information, and other events details has been through our Facebook Group. While searching for a project idea for my BIS 308 class I received a notification in our group named, “Business Chat.” Curious about the notification, I checked it out and noticed that our group’s cover photo had been changed recently. To my surprise, my Chapter’s Vice-President decided that it would be a good idea to change our group’s cover photo to a selfie that our Board of Governors Chairman took and has posted to his own personal Facebook page. Realizing this, I asked myself this: how is this considered professional?…

Fraternities and sororities have progressed to defeat some stereotypes, but they still face a harsh reality of hazing, racism, privilege, and exclusivity. There are still injustices happening within fraternity and sorority life. For example, one injustice that I would like to focus on is the discrimination against people of color joining fraternities and sororities. The reason why I want to address this injustice is because race/ethnicity is something that I am passionate about. I want to spread diversity and spread awareness against the discrimination that people of color face almost every day.…

Mini-Ethnography For my mini-ethnography project, I chose to research the life at the restaurant located down the street from my dormitory building. Schaefer, the author of, “Sociology: A Brief Introduction,” a norm is “an established standard of behavior maintained by a society.” How does the standard of ethical behavior change when the supervisor is there keeping an eye on all of the employees compared to when she is absent?…
