Poverty as material and social deprivation framework is shown to be related to health status, due to the inability to participate in normal every day activities. Social structures shape work and social environment for people in poverty which can then shape behavioral and psychological processes. These processes can affect the nervous system, mental system which than can lead to diseases and premature death. The life course perspective in Chapter 9 explains the latent effects, which is the early life experiences of people in poverty and how they influence health later on in life. These effects have to with biological and developmental factors which can later on cause blood clotting and cholesterol problems, leading to heart disease and diabetes (Raphael, 2011, pg.275). Poverty has an effect on family life, relations, community quality of life such as belonging and isolation, social inclusion and exclusion, and crime and safety. These factors of quality of life are also relate to an individual's mental and physical state (Raphael, 2011, pg.295). Project 2 in Chapter 6 focuses on the deterioration of physical well being of women living below Canada's poverty
