The reporting party (RP) stated a call was received from Jeremy Denser a counselor at the Palm Middle School (951) 571-4260. The counselor reported female minors residing in the home disclosed they are allowed to settle their own disputes with other minors in the group home using physical and verbal abuse (violence). Consequently the minors are allowed to push and shove each other until staff intervenes. According to the counselor the staff only intervenes when it appears a serious physical injury is imminent. Subsequently the minors are placed in a room together where they are allowed to argue and curse at one another as resolutions to their problems.…
On the April 4th ballot in Jefferson City, Missouri, voters will make the decision to vote on Proposition J plus C as to whether the two-high school plan will be active or not. Proposition J includes a $130 million dollar bond issue to build a second Jefferson City Public High School and restore the original Jefferson City High School, standing since 1963. Proposition J will also bring an increase to taxes by .65 cents. Proposition C will include a .45 cent increase on the tax levy which will be split: .25 to cover costs for the second high school and .20 to cover reviving costs for the original Jefferson City High School.…

The Case Study Scenario This scenario will revolve around Pete Parkson, a young 2nd grader that has transferred to Hope Primary Elementary School with his parent’s relocation to the area for personal reasons. Pete has Auditory Processing Disorder, or APD, and will need to have an IEP made for him. Luckily, his parents had managed to slide their move into the school semester and they have arrived in the middle of summer vacation to make the initial transition easier for Pete. The progression of disciplinary actions over the three years at Walters School indicate three major trends, or patterns, in the data given. The most noticeable trend was the increasing percentage rate of disciplinary actions on office referrals for black males in the categories of corporal punishment, in-school suspension, other and out-of-school suspension. Corporal punishment of black males doubled in percentage of action from 41.57% in 2204 to 81.82% in 2006. In-school suspension for black males maintained the highest rate for all ethnicities with a rate of 53.66% in 2004, 45.83% in 2005 and 56.86% in 2006. Out-of-school suspension is on the rise for black males beginning at 70.83% in 2004 and increasing to 77.69% in 2006.…

American University Law School’s campus is beautiful; the classrooms are new, spacious, and sometimes well-lit.
