Coco Chanel once said-“In order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.” This quote is very accurate in the school uniform debate. Uniforms are made the same, for us to look the same, and be the same, but we are NOT the same. They revoke our rights of freedom and individuality. Thus why I think students should NOT be forced to wear uniforms.

My first and foremost reason is students wouldn’t be able to express themselves. We are denied the freedom of color, style, etc. The wise writer, Dr. Suess, once said “Why fit in when you were born to stand out.” Uniforms also violate the first amendment- Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and petition the government for a redress of grievances. Most schools would also most likely make you have your hair a certain way, length, color.

Bullying occurs whether the students wear uniforms or not. The ROOT of bullying should be addressed. The devil’s advocate would say “Uniforms make them equal.” or “They won’t feel bad that they aren’t wearing as cool of or as expensive of clothes.” My solution would be to go to thrift stores or if you are in Winner you could go to Hidden Gems. They have name brands in great condition for little money. I also know for a fact that if we got uniforms here at Winner School District, it would turn into a “who wears it best” sort of contest. A man named Tony Volk said, “Overall there is no evidence in bullying literature that supports a reduction in violence due to school
