This message is portrayed within Go Back To Where You Came From when we saw a comparison through flashbacks between the participants at the beginning, during and end of the journey which expresses how their attitude to discovery is changing and how experiencing new relationships is giving them a deeper insight which is overall affecting their values and beliefs. For example, Raye says in the beginning, “I could have gone over there and shot them all” which is about the refugees in a neighbouring detention centre by her property, and “When i heard about Christmas island, i thought serves you bastards right” which is about a news report she saw. She is shown this interview towards the end of the documentary and she quotes “Did I actually say that?” Raye questions herself as she is now grown more sympathetic and caring towards refugees after experiencing their lives first hand and learning the personal stories. This links as after experiencing new discoveries throughout the journey, her attitude towards discovering the reality of refugees impacted and changed her through her values towards the issue of refugees and her beliefs.
