Creationism is a religion that millions of people follow and worship based on personal belief, evolution is a science that has been studied and supported-at least, that is what many scientists, atheists, and even religious affiliates believe. On one side, Creationists are arguing that creationism is an alternative to evolution and should be taught so that children are not put on a one track train to

The last scene of Inherit the Wind concludes with Drummond lifting both the Bible and Darwin’s Origin of Species only to slam the two together and lock them away in his briefcase side by side. Drummond taking both books fulfills the message of the importance of freedom of thought. Humanity will never know the how the universe began, nor how mankind actually came to be, however theories such as creationism and evolution allow humanity an answer. Throughout the play, Drummond defends Cates for evolution while Brady and the people of Hillsboro fight for creationism. The town tries everything to stop Drummond and find Cates guilty by denying Drummond’s experts on evolution, but allowing an expert on the Bible like Matthew Brady.…

The trial presented in Inherit the Wind clearly pertains to the great debate between creationists and evolutionists and although this is true, a more profound underlying conflict exists beneath surface. In the play the creationists or the townspeople adhere to strict fundamental Christian traditions, which dedicate how the Hillsboro community is run and what they should believe in. The creationists are deemed as a conservative force, but their ignorance overshadows the fact that their conservatism stems from fear. The most influential creationists, Brady and Reverend Brown, which coincidentally hold authoritative positions in society that are still intact till this day. As an authoritative figure one’s goal is to maintain control over social…

Does it make you uncomfortable when someone says “God isn’t real” or “evolution is completely fake”? What if you were taught these things were fact, and you had to believe them? Creationism is the religious belief that God or some inhuman power created the world. On the other hand, evolution is defined as the genetics of a species changing over time by various means. Neither creationism nor evolution should be taught as factual science and should not be indoctrinated into students, but can be taught as a theory and philosophy that should be viewed with scrutiny.…

Since the topic of creationism against evolution is ongoing, all the authors had similar views on the controversy. The first author Robert E. Kohler released his article in 1987 meaning that he had not yet experienced the court cases that went on throughout the 1990s and there were still many unsolved on the problems in the school systems. Kohler is a professor of both history and sociology sciences making him credible for this topic but not necessarily unbiased. His article persuaded the support of science and its research more than support for the fundamentalists. Kohler touched up on the crucial historical points of what was going on but focused mainly on the problems the science society was facing.…

The modern debate is over the possibility of creationism being taught in public schools as an alternative/or alongside evolution. Instead of using the Bible solely for spiritual purposes, many of those who follow it believe that it should be honored as a legitimate science. However, since creationism is unable to be scientifically tested and undergo the same extensive fire that evolution has for centuries, it should not be taught as a science course in public schools. The Bible has been said to date back as far as 3000 BC and…

While many people of faith have been able to settle the ideas of literal creation by a god or higher power and evolution by natural selection, theorists on both sides of the discussion press the idea that this settlement or understanding is not possible. Anywhere evolution is taught, intelligent design or creationism is talked about. In the long run, it is offered as somewhat that at best, is stubborn to science. One of the most incredible wonders in the history of education is that a theoretical idea centered on no real scientific confirmation could have been commonly accepted and taught as a scientific fact, in all the public schools. This theory has been made the main agenda of modern education and the fundamental principle in all textbooks.…
