The use of repetition gives the reader an eerie feeling about the murderers and foreshadows that Dick and Perry will kill any necessary to get away with robbery and be successful.
Effect: The repetition of this phrase gives the reader an uneasy feeling, as they realize the intentions of Dick and Perry and how far they are willing to go to get away with their crime. It also makes the reader questions the mental state of Perry as Dick is forced to constantly remind him of the task. Dick’s uncertainty in Perry makes the reader wonder if he will be responsible for the two men getting caught.
