Throughout the book Cady feels strong emotions, pain, suffering, joy, sadness, etc. The author uses these types of metaphors to help the reader better understand how Cady feels. In the excerpt mentioned earlier, Cady is hurt by her dad. Cady correlates this pain with the pain of a gunshot wound. Multiple times throughout the story Cady talks about how much she bleeds. She says that she bleeds all over, and that Gat is there to bandage her up. Cady isn’t literally bleeding, but she feels like she is. She is hurt, and Gat is there to put her back together.
