No one knows what happened exactly the day Hae was murdered and who did it. Sarah Koenig says that she was strangulated. Adnan was arrested without there being a good evidence that he did it besides him being Hae 's ex-boyfriend and feeling upset at the fact that Hae ended things with him and feeling hatred towards Hae which made it very suspicious for others. Koenig interviews Adnan ex-friend, Jay. When Jay is being interviewed by a detective he explains to the detective what happened the day Hae was murdered. Jay says, "I 'd let it out, we went shopping with a friend of mine, an ex-friend of mine, Adnan. We had had a conversation. During the conversation he stated he was going to kill her, referring to Hae Lee..." Jay later says that Adnan left his car with him to pick him up after he kills Hae. When Jay picks Adnan later on after Adnan killed Hae, Jay says, "He (Adnan) opens the trunk. And all I can see is Hae 's lips are all blue, and she 's pretzeled up in the back trunk. Adnan showed no remorse for his actions. He felt satisfied for getting revenge of what Hae did. The case is still being researched since there is no physical proof that Adnan did it, though he is still arrested for the suspicions that are being said and have been
