Even though it still felt somewhat awkward for me to wait until she was fully done talking before responding back and recalling, as well as keeping my gaze on her, it felt a bit easier to give her my undivided attention compared to when I did the exercise in class with Angelica. One thing I could not get the hang of was saying her name whenever I spoke. Whenever we are taking with each other we don’t normally use our names, and if we do, we use our nicknames, Banana for Bianna and Ponchik for me. Modelling effective communication is an important part of forming positive relationships for children, who then can form positive relationships with other children and adults. It helps children to feel comfortable if they have something to convey, therefore it helps with their own self-esteem and confidence, although it also benefits everyone. It also helps children to understand what is going on, this can help the children to feel settled, otherwise it could cause an atmosphere which will only make any situation worse. If children have a positive relationship they are more likely to share information about how they feel. Children may not be exposed to positive relationships outside of school, so when they attend school it’s important that they understand what is expected of them and this is done though communication.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

Another instance in which I utilize my communication skills occurs whenever I am having a problem with someone, which isn’t very often. Instead of ignoring them, I communicate my issue with them in an effort to resolve the problem and move forward. No matter how frustrated someone makes me, I rarely intentionally avoid them because I believe that if I can effectively communicate the perspective I hold on a complication with someone else, I can resolve the problem or, at worse, agree to disagree. Communication remains a significantly important strength to possess owing to its repeated use throughout one’s…

As managers soar to top management positions and roles change, many fail to upgrade communication skills. Personally, it is a place of isolation.…
