Cause Of Animal Abuse

Impulse purchasing is one cause for animal abuse. Impulse purchasing in this case is the unexpected decision to purchase an animal base on what it looks like. Cases with purchasing animals like this can often lead to animal abuse. This can happen because the buyer does not realize the care for the breed at the time of purchase. Anyone could buy an animal because it looks adorable, but if the buyer does not know what is expected of that particular breed or the proper care, it could result in animal abuse. Animals do not care for themselves, and they rely on you to buy the proper food, bedding, and provide a suitable habitat for them. Also, impulse purchasing of baby animals can lead to the owners believing when the animal gets bigger, or older, …show more content…
Farm animals are genetically manipulated to grow larger or produce more milk or eggs than they naturally would. Chickens are a good example of an animal that suffers animal abuse by being genetically manipulated. Some chickens grow unnaturally large, to the point where their legs cannot support their outsized bodies. This causes them to suffer from starvation or dehydration when they cannot walk to reach their food and water (“Factory Farming…”). Animals waiting to be killed are crammed by the thousands into filthy sheds, and stuffed into wire cages, metal crates, and other torturous devices. In these holding areas, the animals are given so little space that they cannot turn around or even lie down comfortably (“Factory Farming…”). The animals that are lucky enough to endure and outlast all the previous pain are not done with the torture yet. Those who survive will have to deal with their throats being slit, being plunged into scalding-hot water, being put through hair removal tanks, or their bodies being skinned or hacked apart. On top of all that, this all happens while they are still conscious (“Factory Farming…”). Many people take the stance that the animals are just going to die anyways. They will, but they still have feelings, and “going to die” does not take what they feel at that time away. Treating these poor animals like that is definitely animal abuse. Even though they …show more content…
Either situation should be prevented. There should not be any causes for animal abuse, as it is unacceptable. Some of the causes of animal abuse include impulse purchasing, controlling or training of an animal, the use of animals for entertainment, animals being used to find cures for illnesses, and the conditions of animals that will be killed for food. In order to stop accidental animal abuse, owners should be aware of their actions. For example, not buying pets without knowing their needs, not leaving pets tied up for a while, or being cautious when training. To stop animal abuse that occurs on purpose, individuals can take action by not visiting animal entertainment productions, such as circuses and aquatic animal shows, and by not supporting organizations that cause animals to be injured or harmed in any

The Legislatures should enforce additional laws in order to more effectively prevent most methods of animal cruelty and neglect, because animals should not be punished or killed for being born at the wrong time and place. Animals shouldn’t be penalized for no longer being cute or young. Animals shouldn’t be used as play toys for young children or for fighting to entertain men to gain profit. Animals should not be crammed into a small area with an unfair life because they will become food in their near future. Yes, animals are not always treated badly but it doesn’t stop some people from abusing them or miss treating them in some way.…

Animals don’t deserve to be tested or harm in anyway because they didn’t do anything. Animals should have at least some rights so we can improve how animals are abused, tested, and disrespected by humans. Would you want your pet to be taken away for testing? Would you want to watch the brutality of it? If not, then why let another animal go through this.…

Many people don’t realize how badly animals are treated on factory farms. They also have this idea that animals are treated “humanely” on certain factory farms. Animals are not treated humanely on factory farms in any way because no matter what factory farm they get sent to, they are abused, neglected, and forced to live unnatural and unhealthy lives. Animals on factory farms are abused in so many different ways. For instance, cows are dragged by their legs using machines and hit with hard objects to get them in trailers and pens.…

The cellular, metabolic, and anatomic systems of animals are really different from humans so the fact that they would be considered as good test subjects is really bad (ProCon). It is very unacceptable to experiment on animals because, “animals suffer like humans do, so it is speciesism to experiment on them while we refrain from experimenting on humans” (ProCon). Meaning that human superiority leads to the exploitation of animals. Animal testing does not always work, because it is known that some medical breakthroughs with animal research can and could have been made without the use of animals (ProCon). Knowing that animals can have serious harm done to themselves during animal testing is horrible and changes the entire…

Additionally, animals do not exhibit human diseases such as HIV, Alzheimer's disease and many more. Therefore, it sounds useless to think that testing drugs to these diseases using animals will give accurate results (Slattery & Cryan, 2012). Apart from this, using these animals as test subjects also greatly violates the animal rights, because animals just like humans have feelings and deserve to be treated right. However, if not for the use of these animals, the medicine world would be stagnant. However, the use of animals as testing subjects should be banned, because it greatly invades animals’ rights and puts the animals through a lot of pain and suffering.…

Some claim it is better to use animals as testing subjects rather than humans. However, that is one of the main areas that they are misguided in. While yes, it is good if humans can stop others from being used as test subjects, using animals as testing subjects does not help humans. Instead, there is another possibility that helps both humans and animals, and none of them have to receive pain. Despite that, since using other methods of testing can be a little more complex, many companies do not want to execute it, sticking to the old fashioned way.…

As described by The Humane Society of the United States, keeping them as pets “does not take the wild out of the wildlife” (2009). Secondly, keeping wild animals as pets can have severe effects on the ecosystem. Breeding of species can be greatly affected as they are being isolated and taken away from their natural surroundings which encourage reproduction. Such animals may have desirable genetic traits which may prove to be useful for future breeding needs (Mendelsohn, July 2003, p. 505). As argued by Price, even if breeding does take place while the animals are in captivity, their “gene pools” must be preserved so as to establish healthy populations of such animals…
