Impulse is a book about three people who are dealing with the same problem and try to commit suicide but failed, and later on try on try to turn their life around. The book first starts out with Conner, who tried to kill himself by shooting himself in the chest. Conner then has to go to therapy and has a therapist named Dr. Boston who he has an interest in. The story then continues on with another person named Tony. Tony also tries to kill himself by doing drugs and drinking alcohol. Tony is gay and he does drugs. He lost his mind when he was trying to kill himself. Tony has a rough life. His dad left him and his mom because of his mom, Tony’s mom is a hooker. Tony has a hard life and because of that he went to juvie for drug possession. Now …show more content…
She drops her pencil on the floor, she tries to pick it up but she starts to feel sick. The teacher asks her if she is okay and she runs to the bathroom. While she in the bathroom the teacher takes her poem, and reads it aloud and everyone likes it. The teacher calls Conner up to read his poem. Conner’s poem is about sex he had with a woman named Emily, and everyone loves it. It is now Tony’s turn to read his poem which he writes about his childhood. It is now Easter Sunday and Vanessa goes back home for Easter. Her little brother Bryan is so excited to have her back. He calls he down to make the Easter eggs she tells him to wait a minute. She sees her blade and wants to cut herself a little but then Bryan calls her again and so she comes downstairs. As she comes downstairs the door opens and her dad walks in. Vanessa and Bryan are so happy to see their dad come home in one whole piece. Her dad also knows that she tried to commit suicide. He has a talk with her and tells her that he doesn’t want to lose her. After their Easter break Vanessa, Conner and Tony come back to the therapy group. Starr asks Stanley where will he go after he leaves Aspen Springs (the therapy place that they go to) and Stanly replies with an inappropriate remark. He then pulls down his pants and exposes testicle. No one comes between him except for Vanessa, she confronts him and he threatens her. Conner and Stanley start to fight and Dr. Starr breaks up fight. Conner comes over to Vanessa and tells her to be careful and that he won’t always be there to protect her and kisses her on the neck. Meanwhile the people in the therapy are going on a hiking trip. One of the activities on the hiking trip is crossing a river on a rope (with a safety harness). Everyone is hesitant, but then Conner volunteers to go first. While he was walking he starts to feel dizzy and kind of looks scared. Everyone was surprise because Conner isn’t normally scared of heights, but no one dares to ask him except for Tony because he and Conner are cool. Tony thinks that if he asks him he will come up with a smart remark but instead he says he doesn’t know. Back at the camp Tony and Vanessa get extremely close and Tony gets confused. He loves Vanessa very much but he also wants to make love to
