Due to the lack of reliable technology within my school, troubleshoot issues and hardware problems are common occurrences when implementing technology. During the last school year, I have experienced issues with iRespond remotes and iPads that refuse to turn on Due to the limited amount of class time, I now believe it is important to check these issues prior to using them.
This year, I was required to administer the Student Learning Objective or SLO assessment to my students. All teachers were required to implement this test using irespond. Teachers were given the option to use iRespond lite clicker remotes or the web app. I decided to use the iRespond-LiteNG remotes. Since there are limited remotes available, I borrowed another teacher’s

Because the Fine Arts department does not have a laptop cart, I was forced to borrow a laptop cart from the Science department and ESOL department. However, I was only allowed to borrow 20 laptops. Due to age and wear, many of these laptops malfunctioned or refused to turn on. They were also out of warranty thus; they could not be serviced. Out of 20 laptops that were extended to us, only five were working. These five laptops were very slow and took at least 10 minutes before they would start up. Once those computers were up and running, three had difficulty connecting to the school Wifi. The solution was to hardwire the laptop to gain an internet connection. Once this was done, I paired students together. I also encouraged students to use their cellphones and the classroom desktop computer. I was also able to send a small number of students to the media center.
As a result of these issues, I learned that before implementing technology, it is important to check and prevent any possible troubleshooting issues you might experience. By doing so, you will be able to preserve classroom time and keep students actively engaged. If I could change one thing about this artifact, I would change the amount of time I spent trying to resolve these issues. I would have a plan B in case troubleshooting issues

Weekly Reflection #9: Today, Michael Fenton talked about Desmos and what we should think about when we incorporate technology in the classroom. Reflect on the talk, the activities, and his philosophy of how we should incorporate tech in the classroom. Before Michael Fenton speech, I had hear about something people say, that someday we will live in a world where almost everything will be done through technology and where there will be not a lot of human interaction. Nevertheless, I did not think that this “idea” in one way or another, it was already developing in places such as a school. I believe that after I saw the photos Michael Fenton showed us of how in some schools students are isolated from each other when they are interacting with…

To help teachers integrate technology more effectively into their teaching, professional development around educational technology should be a higher priority for schools and districts, and it needs to be ongoing and collaborative. Professional development on educational technology should focus on what students need to learn, rather than on how to use a specific device. I will create standards that will met the needs of every school in the district to establish infrastructure of learning new technology inside the classroom. Introducing new technology ideas take effort from the board of education, administrators and faculty members to surpass the standards expectation of educational. Those standards will only be met if faculty and…

Collective Learning Technology has brought huge influences on everyone’s lives. The Duke University had brought iPod as an academic device and educational experiment to all the first-year class students. The iPod inverted the traditional role of technology, which has many new functions. Students not only can listen to music, but also use the iPod as an academic device to collaborate with others. This concept can be seen in Project Classroom Makeover, by Cathy Davidson.…
