Improving Review: Building Relationships With Employees

Within my current organization we have annual reviews. Although it proves to be very effective for my department, it does not always prove to be effective for other departments. I have the luxury of a working relationship with my boss. She and I have the privilege of conversing whenever need be. When review time comes around, I am assessed fairly and provided with realistic goals since our review time is not filled with things that need to be addressed. This is far from the reality in other departments such as the nursing units. The nursing staff does not always directly know their supervisor or manager so it is not easy for them to communicate with them.
