Institutional to improve patient care, the phasing away of diaper usage at the facility was put into effect last year. The RNs and nursing assistance were in-service that diapers in the facility were being replaced with a special incontinence bed pad, which dries liquid upon contact in approximately 1 minute. During the transitional phase, the unit still had a few packs of diapers lingering around. I witnessed a specific nursing assistant that was against the new incontinence bed pad and was consistently using the old diapers. I expressed myself to the nurse assistant by reminding her per our in-service, evidence proves that the old diaper holds wet longer and there is less of a chance its checked compared to a visible incontinence pad.
