If you think that after landing the perfect job the hard work is over you are sorely mistaken. In many cases, especially within management related positions, job training will be a key part of your contractual obligations. It is a common myth that the word “training” is something that should be feared, as this couldn’t be any further for the truth. In fact, job training is something that should be embraced. Out of house job training usually means visiting a third party area to train in a new skill, with it sometimes taking the form of work retreat. Out of house job training is also used to help train in characteristics, with leadership and teamwork retreats being very popular. If you involve yourself in out of house job training then you need to be prepared to be taken out of your comfort zone. You will be removed from your work environment to train and the programme will be run by trainers who you may otherwise had not had met before. Induction This is usually given to employees during their first few weeks in a new position. Its purpose would be to familiarise the employee with the company and their rules. It is also used to show an employee a new skill, which will be needed to be successful in the position.
Upgrade Over time it is possible that as employee your skills become dated. The nature of work is ever evolving and you are going to need to do all you can to keep up. Upgrade training is there to help you learn new skills, or improve upon skills you already have that may need refreshing.
Multi-skilling Multi-skilling is a type of job training that aims to improve more than one of an employee’s skills. Today’s employees need to know how to multi-task and show versatility more than ever before. What multi-skilling does it improve an employee’s talents across the board, making them better rounded in the process.
