From a young age, students are told that getting a job out of school is incredibly important, preferably in the field they studied. The problem with this is that employers want experience and achievements, which is hard to get as a recent college graduate. However, it is possible to get a job in the studied field, and the major component to applying for a position is a resume. The key to securing a job in a desirable field is having an impressive resume that includes positive aspects. A resume can be a supplement to a job application or the resume itself could be the application. A resume’s sections can be set up in multiple different ways, but typically the most important or relevant sections are first at the top of the paper. The contents of a resume vary greatly and depend on the specific job field. For different fields, different resume components are required. For example, for the marketing side, professional summaries and skills sections are relevant. For psychology resumes, experience and skills are important. It is a good idea to have a resume throughout schooling and to update it regularly. In the field of psychology, resumes are geared towards specific jobs and that requires specific resume sections to be included. For example, all resumes must include applicant’s name, address, phone number, and email. These are some required moves.
