Improve My Writing Process

My warm up exercises consisted of listening to music for 10 minutes and taking a break every 20 minutes for 5 minutes to think to give myself a time to relax and to think about what I wrote. To me those small breaks helped a lot to improve my creative writing process. Specifically, I was able to write more productively and edit my work faster.
What your writing intention was for this session:
For me, the drama was the hardest draft to write. Therefore, it was the last draft that I wanted to revise.
What you ended up writing:
Mostly, I focused on modifying dialogues (making them shorter and decrease the amount of exclamation signs). By doing that, I wanted to make the scene more believable and realistic, so that readers would be able to connect

The first poem I wrote for this collection was Depression. Originally, it was very narrative so it took a while for me to decide whether to make the basic concept into a poem or story. Eventually I decided on writing a poem as I didn’t have much experience with writing poetry so I saw it as a personal challenge. I realised the original concept was not very cohesive, so I wrote a rough storyline to work through in order to make the piece more cohesive.…

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

My writing process is similar to the typical high schooler, except like the typical high schooler I have no idea what my process is. Having to slow down and think about your process before writing can be complicated due to the fact that I am thinking about what I doing naturally. Hopefully I will be able to fully break down my process and use what I learn from that to improve my writing. My process starts with me focusing on a prompt whether it’s given to me or I have to create one myself.…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…

As a senior at TCPS, I am currently taking my second dual-enrollment college course, comp one. Before this college level writing course, I thought I had the skill of writing papers mastered. Throughout grade school, writing a paper in a few hours was easily achievable and was the general thing to do. My peers and I easily wrote papers without effort and made good grades. Therefore, when I started my first college writing course, I thought this was the thing to do.…

I would say I have a neutral opinion on English classes. Some days I like them, and some days I dread the time when I have to go home and write another really long essay. My writing process has always been about the same from year to year because I tend to do very well on most of them. I have really enjoyed reading books and plays in class, and I hope we can do that in the future.…

I have loved to write since I can remember chewing on my first pencil eraser. I started with scribbles, and then random words. Later on, however, I was required to write persuasive arguments and academic jibber jabber. Writing these papers, I began with a claim or argument in mind I intended to convince my readers was true. Not wanting to waste much time, I started by writing down my main idea and then searching for relevant stuff to fill the paper with the required number of words.…

Click, clack, sigh. Click, clack, click, clack, click, click, click, these familiar sounds of keys working harmoniously with my hand’s every movement, signifies the formation of an essay. My fingers drumming the keyboard have filled up my freshman days through every paper I wrote. On account of these repeated actions, I have developed as a writer and with it the quality of my work. As shown through the evolution of my essays this year, I truly believe my writing has blossomed because I have finally imposed a step-by-step process of writing that works for me.…

I had to be very consistent when building my character’s identities to make them believable. I had to make it clear to my audience, why the character was acting the way they were. I also had to avoid cliches because the audience tends to see cliches as superficial. In term of my characters motivations I wanted to make my main character, Scarlet, not know how to live independently or act politely around people.…
