Sirota Shortly before the controversial billboard was taken down just a couple of days later, an article written by David Sirota, titled “ Kenneth Cole Gets Schooled” appeared in the liberal political and current affairs website, Salon. In this writing, he criticizes the fashion designer Kenneth Cole and his company’s use of adopting a slogan that dealt with a national debate over unions, particularly teachers, in hopes of capitalizing off of the public’s reaction and response. By exploring the factors that explains the formation of the union such as the education system and accountability, Sirota’s article displays a firm but biased and partial argument in the importance of unions and their role in the education system. A strength within the essay lies in his varied choice of rhetorical strategies.…
However, many have speculated that Larson had written this book to reflect the similarities of Barak Obama and John McCain during their campaign in 2008. Not only were they both from different parties, but also they had different religious views. Yet Larson illustrates that every four years, we have an election to vote for the President and Vice President to change the political parties, yet function adequately. He also details the major rivalry between the two political figures both inside of office and outside and the past friendship they once shared. Congressman Dinner Reflection I found our dinner with the former United States Congressmen, Dan Miller and Sam Coppersmith, to be extremely rewarding. She constitutes effectiveness as the sustainability and repeatability of techniques used to deliver the points of the candidates. The reason for negative appeals is that, “candidates have strong incentives to evoke emotions such as anger, fear, and anxiety; thus, appeals that are high in emotional content will survive longer than other types of arguments” (564).
