Successful Classroom Strategies

There are many important parts that make up a successful classroom. A successful classroom is a classroom where students are learning academics and life skills. In order to have a successful classroom the teacher must have positive relationships with her students. A positive relationship is being able to praise and discipline students in a healthy matter. As well, a positive relationship is the teachers and students are working with each other to reach to be successful inside and outside for the classroom. There are many tools to have positive teacher and student relationships. For example, a teacher must have consistent environment for the student to know what is expect from them. At the beginning of the school year, the teacher must explain the rules, daily procedures, and short term and long term goals for the student and classrooms. Many teachers do these things at the beginning of the school year, but the important part is to stick to them throughout the whole school year. I would use the Card Chart strategy. The Card Chart strategy is when each student has a pocket with different color cards in a library card pocket holder with their name on it. Each time the student misbehaves they will pull a card (“5 Creating and Implementing” n.d.). For example, every student would start off with a green card, ready to learn card. If a student is getting out of their sear without permission they would pull the green card and a yellow card would be showing. The yellow card would be the warning card. If it occurs again they would pull the yellow card and a red card would be showing. The red card would be where recess time or a pleasure time be taken away.
