Over the past year in 6th grade in Mrs.Hamakers class, we have been learning about some very important Life Gifts. When I first started the year I had a hard time in trying to preserve, take responsibility, and have courage. And with the year within stones throw to end I have gotten the knack of all of those Life Gifts with a props to Mrs.Hamaker. I have mastered in perseverance by continuing to try in school even when it was hard. Not only have I persevered in school but also outside of school. When I got my new scooter I was trying to tail whip for a while and I got so many bruises on my legs and knees. I even had perseverance when I broke my right arm and still tried to play the clarinet. It felt atrocious when I had to move my fingers or even when I accidentally bump my arm on the wall and yet even through the pain I tried to accomplish as many objectives as possible. …show more content…
When I am on my skateboard at Pepper Tree park I like to ride down the hill and then attempt to turn into the basketball court. When I first started skateboarding I was absolutely terrified of even getting on the board because I was scared of falling off and getting hurt. In the beginning of school I wanted to make more friends but I had no idea how too, so I finally got the courage to make a new friend and now Kaige and I are friends. When I am goalie in a soccer game I have to have courage in being able to dive and catch a ball that someone is kick as hard as they can and still be able to not hurt myself. I did not want to try out for A.S.B because I was afraid of failure but what Mrs.Hamaker has showed me that failure is better than not trying at all. I have shown more responsibility when I have homework and immediately do it before anything else. These Life Gifts can help when I want to get a job and instead of being disorganized I will be ready for any obstacle that comes my

When we get over fears, we realize only then that we had the courage before to do that something we were afraid of doing. One time I was afraid was when I started ice skating. Personal statement The year 2004 marked a time in my family’s history in which we took a substantial step forward by coming to the United States. Before that, we lived through and experienced a lot of unspeakable things. Originating in Somalia, my parents understood that it was a place where nothing could be achieved. Civil war broke out, devastating hundreds upon thousands of lives, including several of my family members. Corruption infected the government, military, and all forms of law enforcement.…

A “lifetime gifting program” can be annually used by Meg to each of her children through “gift-splitting elections” (“Gift and Estate Tax Planning” 14-22). The strengths that I have acquired through high school are persistence, endurance, and work ethic. In high school I have always been persistent to keep my grade up and made it my goal to be on the honor roll. Freshman year I was able to make it to second honors, which is to have quarter grades no lower than a C. I persisted myself to make it to first honors (no grade lower than a B-). Towards the end of my sophomore year I achieved my goal. I persisted to make it to principal’s list junior and senior year.…

What are your precious lessons in your life? I received unforgettable lessons from a book which is The last lecture by Randy Pausch. He was a professor of the Carnegie Mellon University, and he was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, so through his book, he hoped people to fulfill their dreams. As his hope, I got in touch with his stories and among them, the things that especially I want to tell you, are “Don’t complain, Just Work harder”, “Never give up” and “All you have to do is ask.”…

I grew up in Oakland, California in an area known as Sobrante Park, a low income residential neighborhood bordered by railroad tracks and a creek. An abandoned park with rusted basketball hoops looming over a cracked asphalt court, riddled with weeds sits near the corner of 105th and Edes Avenues, where young men loiter on the sidewalk outside a liquor store. This is my hometown. Growing up in Sobrante Park, I have seen first-hand how poverty affect people. Lack of motivation and optimism crushed the hope and dreams of many people.…

As an eighth grader, I had no choice but to balance out my school work, making sure to do all the chores, and taking care of my three younger siblings at home by myself. My parents would be up in the hospital taking care of my now passed grandmother, who had cancer, while I, being the oldest child in the family, had to stay home alone to take care of my younger siblings. At first it was a difficult task for my 12-year old self to handle. While I was doing my homework or studying, I would have to stop what I was doing and help my siblings on their homework. Another scenario would be me cleaning up the house, even though there were homework waiting for me on the table.…

Perseverance is finally successfully achieving your long life goal in school or in society with difficult obstacles in your way. The one goal I achieved that took a lot of perseverance and that was making friends in school. One reason why I wanted to achieve this goal was because I didn’t want to be judge. I always had a fear of being judged by people I don’t know and I didn’t want the harsh words to stick around like shadows, until meeting my best friend, Meghan who was also afraid of judgement.…
