Historical context is where there is some sort of expectation for a particular thing, because it has happened in the past. As an example, a staff at a hotel has been caught stealing from the male lockers. In the next event in which something get stolen from the hotel, due to a history of stealing that staff will become a suspect. Cultural context refers to the values and beliefs of who the context is delivered to. The context should be different from a young teenager to an elderly person. Social context refers to the relationship with the other person. The context would be different with an employee compared to a family member. Or a student compared to the teacher. It is a much needed help, assisting the reader to translate unknown words and help in understanding the outside information. A few illustrations of context are as follows. Imagine there was a situation where a person willingly drank from a glass that had been contaminated with a black grainy substance. Most of us would think that person is not in their right mind. What if later we found out that the granulated substance was from the crumbs of an Oreo cookie? That small additional sentence proved to change the entire content. This is because we couldn’t put everything into context. In this generation, communication moves at the speed of light. The information that we forget or don’t include may cost us our customers or employees in the hospitality industry.Imagine a scenario in which someone requests that they add one to one.
