Behavior Change Project: Observation Report

Choosing to do yoga as my behavioral change project was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. After quitting color guard freshman year of high school, I stopped stretching; therefore, I was not flexible anymore. Color guard was also a way for me to get away from all my academics. Every year, I would attempt to stretch as I did back in high school, but failed to do so. Every day, I will encounter something that will cause me to stress out, even if it is something little. When I noticed that I was not as active as before, I started to gain weight and that is something that stresses me out the most. Yoga is considered to be one of the best for stress relief and it was a way for me to get back into stretching. By using the S.M.A.R.T goal, it helped me improve and succeed a certain goal each day. Even though there were barriers that kept me from achieving my goals, I was able to overcome it. As I overcome it, I learn from them and continue to do better next time. There are a few things I would like to change, which was stopping myself from being too scared to try new yoga poses. Sometimes, when it is too hard, I give up and continue doing the same pose or stretches. I do try to implement new stretches and poses every time I do it. This has benefitted me a lot right after I get my daily exercise because I am able to relax my mind and body. The days where I am unsuccessful, I can definitely say that it was all out of laziness and unreasonable excuses. There will be times where I want to do something else, but having a strong mindset will get me through it. Being active at the gym has helped me and the S.M.A.R.T goal was definitely a plus in this project. Having a set schedule and achieving my goals has made me feel a lot better.
