Written communication is a type of communication that takes place between individuals through written form such as letters, memos, reports e.t.c
Oral communication is a type of communication whereby messages are sent from sender to receiver by means of speech. Examples include telephone calls, meetings, face to face conversations e.t.c

Written communication is not easily changed or erased as the company may write a set of rules for the workers to follow, and forwarding these rules to the subordinate who is in the wrong for them to see where they have gone wrong may act as hard evidence and may help the subordinate adjust.
v. It reduces the possibility of misunderstanding and misinterpretation. Communicating with the subordinate in written form to show him/her where they have gone wrong saves time as the subordinate is able to see where they went wrong against the company principles, instead of there being arguments with the supervisor that they never committed any offense.
vi. It serves as evidence of events and proceedings. All formal and official communication should be in a written format for the person who communicated and the one who got the information. This is a form of evidence that the communication took place in order to prevent one from denying that the events never happened.
vii. It provides a permanency of record for future reference. When two people communicate orally the individuals may forget the conversation or proceedings that took place, and next time the subordinate is to do wrong they may be very defensive and try to deny that they were ever in a particular situation that threatened their job. If written communication is done when sending by sending memos or performance reports they may be sent to the human
