How To Write A Reflection Paper For School

Writing papers for school has given me the opportunity to learn more about a variety of topics. I returned to college about six years ago after a very lengthy hiatus. I enrolled in three classes at Charter Oak State College (COSC), one accelerated course at a time. At that time some of the more interesting papers that I had written were on Designer Babies and comparing the Modern and Post Modern theories of play. I struggled with the new way of doing research, I originally started college in 1980, but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed learning about the topic. What I also struggled with was deciphering the credibility of the sources that I found. I again took a few more years off from school and recently returned to COSC. I tend to work best in the morning when my mind is fresh and uncluttered from the events of the day or at night when everything is quiet. If a thought or direction for the paper should randomly come to me or if I can’t sleep at night I can go work on my paper without having to first organize all of my material, by that time the thought is long gone. Working in this organized chaos seems to work well for me for the most part but learning that there is a reason for the word “rough” in rough draft has taken me some time. I use to try to correct all errors and rewrite a sentence until it was to my liking before getting to the end of the paper. In doing so I end up losing my train of thought pretty quickly and this can become frustrating. Now I go back and revise when I have completed writing. I will repeat this process until I am satisfied with what I have written. This is something that I also will do when I write for my own personal …show more content…
All authors have their own unique style of writing and that style is going to attract a select audience. A good writer will capture the attention and interest of the audience and keep it. Doing this is something that takes a lot of practice and if willing to put that practice in and learn from mistakes that anyone can be a good writer. Personally, I enjoy reading a variety of genres of books but at this point I would have to say that my favorite writers are Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck. Hemingway is very direct in the way he writes and I enjoy reading about the different adventures that mimic his real life adventures as well as the characters that are mostly based on people that he has encountered in his life. His books give some insight into the larger than life personality that he seemed to possess. I like the way that Steinbeck uses a lot of description of his characters and scenery. You get the sense that you know the characters and it becomes easy to empathize with them. I like to read a book and feel as if I have been transported to another place and/or time. It is my escape from

In this essay, I am going to discuss how reflective practice leads to learning and improved patient care. The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

Writing is an art; we create our thoughts in your mind and express it on paper. Once we start writing we keep getting new ideas and when we re-read what we wrote, sometimes it might surprise us. I like to write during early mornings or in the evening when it is quiet. My reading table is facing towards the window so when fresh air is in my room, fresh ideas generate inside me as well. I make sure to have some healthy snacks and a bottle of water in front me…

I do this time and time again because I do not realize that my audience cannot read my mind on so I need to explain more thoroughly my connections from my writing to my ideas. A huge piece of the writing process that I never paid much attention to until this quarter is revision. Therefore, I have grown accustomed to critiquing while trying to develop the content of my papers. Although proper grammar and effective word choice are crucial to writing a cohesive piece, worrying about it early made the process slow and exhausting. I procrastinated to avoid the hours of sitting in front of my screen, rephrasing the same sentence until I was satisfied before starting the process over again with the next sentence. However, in this chapter, I learned that I could be patient with myself during this early stage. Drafting could be the initial phase of the process, or it could be preliminary to the actual writing.…

If I was writing a paper that required a specific number of paragraphs or pages I would typically plan my paper using the four square method. If I was writing an important paper I would write a rough draft, then as I was typing it I would revise it and fix any mistakes I found. One thing that remained consistent in my writing process, no matter the type of paper, is after I wrote the paper I would try to find more grade level appropriate words instead of the simple words I originally used. While writing essays for this class I came to find it is better to combine my writing processes to write the best possible essay I could. I found the best steps for me to take in writing my paper are to write my ideas down in some form.…

Before even entering high school, I made a decision that would ruin the next few years. Looking back, I had no idea it would have impacted me as much as it did, but even now I still wouldn’t have changed that decision. Everything that came after that decision, no matter how difficult, shaped me into who I am today, and I was able to meet some pretty amazing people and do a few things only a handful of people can say they’ve done. In elementary school, I was in the S.C.O.P.E. (Spotsylvania County Program of Enrichment) program, my county’s way of separating out students who they considered gifted and a distraction in the classroom.…

Throughout my senior year in high school, I was in AP Literature and Composition. It was a difficult class, to say the least. I wrote papers almost every week, as the goal of the class, as I was told, was to prepare us for the AP National Literature and Composition exam. Because of this, I became much more proficient at writing a decent essay in a short amount of time. This easily applied to some rather important things, especially concerning my chances of getting good scholarships, and being able to survive in college.…
