My Point Of View

Improved Essays
1. What is my point of view for this paper?
I need to be aware of the point of view for the paper I am writing so I can meet the requirements for the paper. Certain teachers ask for a certain point of view. If the teacher, asks for a point of view I have to meet that requirement. If the teacher doesn’t ask for a certain point of view I need to pick one and stay with that point of view for the entirety of the paper. If I don’t have a clear understanding of my point of view and switch my thoughts throughout, the paper will be very confusing and the reader will be lost as they read the paper.

I must be aware of the constraints so I know what I am going to run into as I write my paper. Having an idea of what the constraints will be before I run into them will help so I can plan for them and not let them adversely effect the paper. For example, time is a very big constraint. I want to be aware of the time constraints so I know how to plan accordingly to have time to write a good paper. Another constraint I need to be aware of when writing a paper is how much I care for the topic. If I don’t care about the topic the paper won’t be very good, but if I care about the topic it should be much better. If I am aware of where I stand on the topic, I cannot let that constraint effect me as much as if I didn’t keep the constraint in mind. A constraint I could also run into in the future that I need to be aware of is “a piece of writing is never finished” (Murray 614). I need to know it will never be finished but I have to get the paper delivered to its …show more content…
While writing I need to be aware of who I want my audience to be and the reason why I am writing to them. I need to know who I am writing to so I know the best way to address them. In doing this, I can say what needs to be said in the best way to persuade them in my favor. The paper also needs to be written to a certain audience because not everyone is the same and can be persuaded in the same way. Knowing the audience, I am writing to I can use my writing in the best way for them to persuade them in whatever way I am trying to. I also have to make sure my writing is appropriate for that audience. For example, I would write a scientific paper differently if my audience was a group of scientists than I would if the audience was a group of artists. I need my audience to be able to understand what I am trying to say.

9. Am I writing what I am being asked to write?
Am I writing what I am being asked to write? If I wasn’t doing this, then I should just stop writing. When writing, there is always something being asked. Whether its a teacher asking me to answer a prompt or to write a research paper. I have to make sure what needs to be written is included in my writing or I won’t go very far in life. If I need to write a research paper I need to make sure it’s a research paper and has everything that needs to be in it. I don’t want to be writing a story when it should be a research paper.

I could probably give in to my confluence a bit more every now and then to build up my thoughts and ideas and put forth more of myself into my writing. I know I should be more willing to let someone look over my work and see if it is structurally put together before I turn it in. I have a problem with criticism so I tend to keep my work to myself until the time comes to turn it in. My critical reading will require a bit more improvement on my part, this I definitely know. I go through with every intention to read what I need to from start to end, giving thought to everything I read, until a distraction happens.…

The first limitation is that the student may believe that I am keeping “writing secrets,” that only writing instructors and tutors are privy to. Also, asking questions can be used as a tool for me to lead a student to an answer that I have developed, which takes away the power and authority from the student. In this respect, the question becomes what does collaboration look like in a writing center? I believe that for honest discussions to occur in the center, there must be a collaboration between the student and myself. This idea is expressed in “Collaboration, Control and the Idea of a Writing Center” by Andrea Lunsford, where she argue that a writing center should “engage students in … not only in understanding and valuing collaboration but in confronting squarely the issues of control that successful collaboration inevitably raises; not only in reaching consensus but in valuing dissensus and diversity (9).” This is idea is critical to my chosen methodology in the writing center.…

The audience and, subsequently, the purpose of a writing shape how the writer behaves. The writer will be more aggressive if the audience is known to be stubborn or the idea needs to be forced into the mind of the reader. The writer may also take a more passive route if the audience needs to be eased into the idea, or if the idea is too complex to explain directly. The way that writers write can be governed by some guidelines. First, one must know their audience.…

This is very important or it could be a major turn off for the reader if they do not necessarily agree with your personal opinion, which is not what you want. Now there are different types of papers that you may include your personal opinion, but not in things such as a summary or a critique. My instructor through these constant comments has made it clear to me depending on the style of writing you are producing you must follow requirements to reach the audience and get the right point of the essay…

I will also not let the approaching deadline bother me because I have so much information to go through. Technical Reasoning: I will have to intensify my technical reasoning to help me know what information to use and discard. I understand the importance of proof reading, researching, editing and composing my writing to create a higher quality than before I commenced this course. Effective writing is being aware of the value of taking an audience into consideration, as a writer I have learnt the importance of staying on target with your chosen audience. I found once I became personally motivated to write and pushed all doubts aside the words began to flow onto the paper. “Whatever the teaching, the writers are on their own, drawing on their experience of life, of language and of story to make meaning. Writing their story is an act of self-expression and self-validation.…

Each individual paragraph that is made from the body should contain a new and different reasoning to support the argument. The best way to write the body is to plan, organize, and give plenty of details. Wyrick states, “It can be helpful going back to prewriting and discovering which ideas surfaced then (48).” When the writer uses the method to write whatever comes to mind it allows for the writer to have a much larger selection of supporting details. It is beneficial to plan the body because more ideas will surface and therefore can be broken down to support the paper. Organizing is key when it comes to writing because you don’t want to confuse the readers when jumping around throughout the…

Most of all I do not want to seem to come off as not a well educated teacher to my student 's parents. I will also need to be able to write good letters and emails to other faculty that I am working with. The reason for that is so they can understand what I am trying to say and if I am asking a question they know how to answer it. Again, so they will not they are working with somebody who did not get a proper education. I would not want to give that reputation of Walsh.…
