When it came to research, I wasn’t quite sure where to start. Of all of the topics I had on my list, I went with the human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV. Diseases have always fascinated me for some odd reason, but I hadn’t always done much research on them beyond a book or two if they were in my school’s library. Finding out about Ebscohost was a pure joy, to find a database with so much information just readily available, and information that is from credible sources at that. One of the weirdest things to adapt to was never using the words “I” or “you” as they are words we frequently use when we are speaking or thinking. However, these papers were not about ourselves, merely the information, and trying to explain our findings in a way that people would understand.
Throughout the semester, there was a lot for me to work on, between figuring out how to research, write, and edit, it became apparent that I was going to learn a lot with this class. I loved the fact that our topics were something that we picked out ourselves, and I found a topic that resonated with me.
