The tasks I most enjoy on my job are rooming the patients, drawing blood, and educating patients. I enjoy rooming patients because it gives me an opportunity to meet and talk to new people. I enjoy interacting with the patients more than sitting behind a computer. I can get very anxious when just sitting behind a computer. I like drawing blood because it can be challenging. Triaging in our office involves going through a patients chart and making sure we have all testing, consults or office notes from other facilities. We also have to make sure that patients have any testing our doctors ordered done before their next visit. This causes me to have to sit at a computer and go through each chart. It can take a while if my doctors have full days. Sometimes they will see 25 patients a day and we have to be at least a week in advance. I least enjoy it because I don’t like sitting and staring at the computer that long. The secretary work is when I get floated to our Coumadin clinic. When I am there, I have to stay at a desk and answer phones. I dislike it because I don’t like sitting and staring at the computer all day. Extending and removing orders is a task we do in our down time. This requires me to sit at the computer and go through all the orders my doctor has ordered. If the patient has not completed their testing, I need to call the patient and get it scheduled or cancel the order. All of these things I dislike because it requires me to just sit at my computer. I think a big reason I dislike doing these tasks is because of my avoidance of technical reasoning. I don’t like to do things alone. I like to have the interaction of other people.
