The poem Beowulf is about a young warrior who helps Hrothgar, the King of the Danes, because his kingdom is being taunted by Grendel, a monster. Beowulf, along with his bravery and strength, slays Grendel in Hrothgar’s mead hall, Heorot, then slays the vengeful mother of Grendel in her underwater lair. From here, Beowulf later becomes the king of the Geats due to his accomplishment and rules for the next fifty years.
