Importance Of Volunteering At Groundz

In school, you study a numerous amount of world cultures, but what is your cultural identity? Some people spend their whole lives trying to answer this question for themselves. But why? Why do people not know where they fit in, or what the significance of the culture they are blind to defines them. Your cultures could define the whole way you live your life style. For me, it is football and volunteering at Groundz. When you hear the word “volunteer” the first thing you think of, is helping people, not family. Well they people I am with the whole summer are not blood relatives, but they are closer to family than my actual family. Volunteering at the Philadelphia Folk Festival Groundz committee has made me a smarter, stronger, and more mentally tough person. It is hard to explain, but growing up and being able to turn to anyone around you and know that they’ll always be there for you is a great feeling. At Groundz we do not help people, but rather set up the festival and serve as emergency service for the festival. In addition, I learn new skills, and problem solving pieces. After, I thinned out, becoming a very humble person. Doing this on a daily basis also keeps me busy, and out of trouble. Football makes me keep my grades in check so I can do well in school as well. With the homework, I try to accomplish all of it at school, so when I get home after football I can eat and sleep. When the season is over there is always something we can attend during the offseason that will make us better and take up time I wouldn't be using productively Football is also another family, having brothers to your left and right who have your back.
