When I kept the younger children busy, it would give the parents time to attend talks, or catch up on their work, but at the same time it helped soften the age/gender/ethnicity barrier, as everyone was invited to play, and in the long run made many kids more inclusive and less squeamish of stepping out of their comfort zone. It was quite interesting to see the change in the children used to a restricted school environment after weeks of playing with a melting pot of kids. Every year the church holds a bazaar, and my siblings and I love helping out. There was not much for me to do during the event, but when clean up time arrived, they could count on me for organizing and helping that part of it.
Actually, at most large-scale events that I have attended, such as conferences, camps, and bike races, I helped with clean up because there were so few people left to help. Since there were usually not many people at clean up I would have a more personal time with the organizers, which helps challenge my social level well beyond peers and into the adult world, creating many connections and gaining respect in the
