The main reason that art classes are being removed from elementary schools is due to budget cuts. When budget cuts take place in a school, art classes are the first classes to be removed from the curriculum. Christine Armario, writer for the Huffington Post, said this:

When a student is given an art project to work on, they improve their concentration by doing the best they can on the project and taking their time completing it, so that the final result is exactly how they want it to look. They find that they have to concentrate on the object they are drawing to make it look the same in their project. This also helps to increase dedication. Doing visual arts can help improve a child’s motor skills. “Many of the motions involved in making art, such as holding a paintbrush or scribbling with a crayon, are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children (Lynch n.p.).” Hand-eye coordination is improved greatly with drawing. Children have to make their hands create what their eyes are seeing. This may be a challenge at first but will improve over time and with
