I request that you accept this proposal for my final project in Writing 465. Overall, I would like this project to benefit underclassmen students in the graphic design program at Winthrop University by providing a mentor program to assist, guide, and care for them as they prepare for the Specialization Review. The development of this mentor program would create a less stressful environment. The mentors would also help improve the student current portfolio and offer a better understanding of classes before and after the review. If students are more comfortable and have someone to look up to, they are more prone to stay in the program, pass their review, and graduate on time.

PROPOSED PRODUCT
Throughout the evolution of this study, I will create a convincing argument toward the new mentor program and enlighten the professors about how important it would be to have it.
In my efforts to convince, I intend to demonstrate the potential that this type of program would have on incoming design students, thus allowing them to feel stress-free, comfortable, and assisted as they continue on in the design department at Winthrop University. Furthermore, I would like to express to the professors that this kind of project is necessary and beneficial. I am a clear example of what a lack of guidance from older students and professors can cause. This program caused me to change my mind about my life goals and change my major to Digital Information Design. Therefore, my personal experience plays a big factor in my motivation to get this issue solved.
Second, I am very interested to see how my opinions will be used in consideration when dealing with this problem. It seems that people often complain about the lack of support and guidance, but nothing ever changes. This lack of attention has always baffled me and I am curious to see how my opinions will change that. However, before I bring this issue to the forefront, I need to assemble my tools and the processes I will use to make sure that I can benefit new and future design students.
