I will spend my time talking to my peers. I already have to work closely with my supervisor on a daily basis. I will make it a point to explore outside of my office and classroom more than when I need something and talk to my subordinates and peers multiple times a day to encourage open communication. By going out of my way to talk and spend more time with my peers and subordinates, I will be able to relate to their cultural context. In order to be able to make this happen, I will need to devote time during my day for not doing work. I will use this to take a break from my tasks. We all need to balance out the climate. I will start the trend by making sure that the mission gets done, but allow people to take care of themselves. I will give good feedbacks that help subordinates achieve their goals, but also help the Air Force and my unit mission. I will teach my peers and supervisors how to give the same kind of feedbacks. To accomplish this I will set up a professional development class to teach everyone how to give proper feedbacks. I will have to set a side time for the feedbacks and class. I will be able to use the classrooms or conference room at my work center. I can start doing the feedback and teach the class right away. I think that it will take up to three years to see the full results of success. I will know I have succeeded when I see my unit members doing self-improvement and volunteering because they want too. This will result in the section winning awards and getting the high promotion statements from the

Assessing your staff, and learning what each person can bring to the team pays off in the end. Everyone has his or her own strengths and weaknesses; the key is finding what everyone is good at doing. Subordinates perform beyond the standard, when they feel part of the big picture and a contributing member to the overall team success. When I get to my next unit, I want to assess whom I have on my team and build the mutual trust within the team.…
