Principle standard one of the National CLAS Standards was met due to enacting shared decision-making, the cultural competence series, communication across differences videos, providing patients with education online material in different languages and a human resource diversity officer to reduce health disparities and promote cultural and linguistic competent care. When patients have the opportunity to actively participate, communicate with their multidisciplinary team and have readily available diverse resources quality outcomes occur and are sustainable. Improvements through the governance are warranted with initiation of policies that will provide the foundation for reducing health disparities and impact quality outcomes. Patients must be involved in their care, initiatives and polices provide the written basis for this and holds senior leadership for competent care. Advancements that reduce healthcare inequalities such as access to health, demonstrating respect for a person’s health belief will impact positive outcomes.
Wilson (2010) states organizations must promote co-learning and empowering process that attends to social inequalities for substantiality. Other recommendations include opening community resources and developing partnership enriches and broadens opportunities for patients. Every individual that enters a healthcare system deserve to know and understand how that institution develops and expands culturally and linguistically patient care
