Did you know four in every ten Muslims within the UK follow Sharia Law? The Sharia law is a code that dictates how Muslims must live their life. They believe through following Sharia Law, originally a concept from the teachings of their God, Allah, they should dictate how aspects of their life should run. The Sharia law is Islam’s legal system; it is literary translated as ‘The clear trodden path to water’. To Muslims Sharia helps them in their daily understanding of how to live their life. To me, extreme types of the Sharia Law mean rape, murder and abuse done by extremist Muslims who take the law too far. Every year through the Sharia Law both Muslims and non-Muslims are killed. It means women will be like animals, they will have no rights, and here in the UK, a woman has rights. They can vote, drive and get an education. They have freedom and equality just like men. However, some women living under the Sharia Law with extreme Muslim husbands have little basic rights. They can’t have many of the things we take for granted in the UK. Women with extremist families can’t marry the love of their life or meet up with friends alone, they can’t even get jobs without permission from their husbands. What sort of life is that to live? ‘85% of all women in Afghanistan have been abused by their husbands’, in ‘Bangladesh 50% of all women were sexually assaulted’ and in ‘Iran 66% of all women have been abused in their first year of marriage’, and no punishments ever happen! In their Holy Book, it says: Quran 4:34 ‘Men have authority over woman because Allah made one superior to the other’. This scripture is obeyed under the Sharia law by extremist Muslims! Sharia will cause major downsides to women in the UK. A woman could only think and remember of her past free life before the Sharia Law came into the UK and had been taken over by extremists. ‘In 2011 it had been estimated 943 women had been killed in Pakistan alone for dishonouring their parents’. Some of these women have no rights. They get stoned for adultery, but men get off. A man can have four wives, but a woman is only allowed one.
