The decision to lose or keep a certain sense is extremely arduous, as there are minute aspects of the senses that contribute to my everyday life in manners I do not notice. However, upon introspection, I was able to resolve the senses that I believed to be most and least imperative in my life.
Vision is indisputably the sense I most value. I consider myself both a visual artist and a scientist, both of which are fields heavily reliant on the sense of sight. I have practiced various forms of art for a considerable portion of my life, including painting, drawing, and dance. Since a young age, I have enjoyed painting and drawing; I would often draw portraits and landscapes, many of which are framed around my house. I have a sentimental attachment to these forms of art, as I not only partake in painting and drawing, but also adore seeing these art forms at museums and people’s houses. Dancing has also been a passion of mine since I began the Indian classical art form at the age of seven years old. Although I did ceased dancing after I began high school, I could not keep myself away. Once I commenced my

This was a similar response to many other individuals in the class. While ruminating on this question, and after oscillating between the two for some time, I settled on the sense of taste as that which I would lose. My family has a history of diseases related to weight control, including diabetes and high blood pressure. After watching the people whom I love fighting these afflictions, having to face each day fearing the consequences of eating a small piece of cake or a slice of pizza, I recently became more self-conscious of my own food

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

I participated in the senses challenge supplied by the British Broadcasting Company to test my abilities and regards to my main sensory modalities. I achieved 100%, my first try, on the test. I was not surprised by the fact of my grade as the test was easy for me. The easiness isn 't due to the inability to accurately conduct the senses challenge online or the gullibility of the test taker but due to the fact I was raised in a sensory enhancing environment. The North Dakota environment influenced each of my senses in a positive enhancing matter that still affects me to this day.…

The five senses are the important, but some people take them for granted. If I had to choose one to live without I'd choose taste. In 2005, Duncan Boak lost his sense of smell after a brain injury. Since smell and taste are closely linked his taste was impacted as well. "It's so hard to explain but losing your sense of smell leaves you feeling like a spectator in your own life, as if you're watching from behind a pane of glass, it makes you feel not fully immersed in the world around you and it sucks away a lot of the color of life.…
