Why Is The Renaissance Important

The Renaissance was known as the time of change and prosperity. Renaissance is a French word that actually translates into rebirth in English. It changed the way people thought, opened new opportunities, changed art and architecture, and enlarged the population in Florence. After the Black Death and before the Renaissance people had lost many loved ones and were paranoid, they decided to go to the place that would give them hope; the Catholic church. The church told them that after death they went to heaven if they were good and to hell if they sinned. But in the 15th century things started to change. During the Renaissance people started to turn towards more logical thinking and science. New ideas were encouraged and so was education.

Many historians believe Florence to be where the Renaissance started, there are many reasons for this thought; some historians think some reasons to be more important than others, but in my opinion the geographical position was the most important.

But why was the position of Florence important? In the early 15th century people were very closed off and lived their entire lives in one region.
