Reflective Essay: The Locus Of Control Assessment

The Locus of Control assessment determines the whether or not an individual has power over the events in their life (Curtis & Trice, 2013). An individual that has a low score on the scale believes that they have an internal control over the events in their life. While an individual who has a high score believes that external forces play a role in their life. I scored at a number 4 on the Locus of Control assessment, giving me an internal locus of control.

My score of 4 on the assessment was no surprise to me based on the values that I have in both my personal and professional life. I am the type of person that believes that I can do anything and get to any level of accomplishment as long as I work hard towards my goal. I am also an individual who believes that it is hard work that does get them somewhere, and it is not about how you know that opens the doors for you. For me personally, if I am not where I am because of me, there is no value in what I have done and it has just been handed to me. I do know people like that, which I admittedly do not see

Following up on the knowledge I have of program guidelines as well as available resources in our area, will not help provide additional knowledge for me, but help me to direct the customer accurately. The more knowledge I have of a situation and resources, the more beneficial my advice for a customer will be to them and their success.

The Multiple Intelligence Survey aims to identify a user’s way of thinking based on their answers to a handful of questions (Multiple Intelligences – Assessment, n.d.).
