De-Gree: A Career Analysis

De-gree (noun) it can be defined as the amount, level or extend to which something happens or is present; a unit of measurement of angles; an academic rank conferred by a college or university; or relative to me as the resume textured, manila document addressed to my home address back in May of 2016 that symbolized the achievement of 120 credits. In contrary to the process of the manila sheet that underwent a less refined process that have fibers notable to the visible eye, the degree itself had no evidence of my personal experiences that led to its production.
After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island, I learned that I was not; it turns out, a very good kinesiologist. I had a good understanding of exercise science, but my ability to apply it to a career that would be rewarding and beneficial for not only myself but for those I served, was not there. As an undergrad, I served as a Civic Engagement Leader and Intern for the Clearinghouse for Volunteers, and then went on to become a Mentor, Physical Education Advisor, and Leader for a summer and afterschool program, and I learned that I was naturally good at that. I have the ability to identify at-risk students through the accomplishment of journal entries, team building activities and personal assessments that I then take and utilize in my lessons, activities and teaching styles, to further influence the success of my students and programs. Through these processes, I have developed strong organizational skills that have been established through tracking the improvements of my students through reflection activities, and student satisfaction
