This would have been beneficial because then the student could have created questions and asked a professional in their field of study how they personally use technical writing in their everyday life in that scope of practice. After the interview, having the student write a reflection essay on the questions and responses, and what has been taught in class that linked to the interview, and what has not.
Conclusion
Since this course has a wide variety of students with different planned majors, it is difficult to reach out to each individual. One suggestion to improve this class is to have a variety of different documents that students can choose from that are geared towards their intended careers. Let the student pick what document to complete that they can link with their intended profession. Another suggestion is to have the students write smaller papers about how the specific chapter they are reading relates to their career. Writing a few smaller papers during the
