What I Learned In The Classroom

This past semester for me was an absolute whirlwind of emotions for me. It definitely had its highs and lows, but overall this semester was a wonderful experience, that I am glad I was face with. This semester was filled with many challenges and learning opportunities that were not necessarily always inside of the classroom. Before I can tell you how this semester has affected me, first I must let you get to know a bit of a backstory about me and my desires to become an educator. My entire life, I have been a nurturer. I have always wanted to help people become a better version of themselves and help them reach their goals. When I was in the first grade I would finish my math classwork before the rest of the class and then go around the room and help out my classmates to make sure they were understanding the material in front of them. I loved going around the classroom and helping my classmates learn. Nothing had ever given me so much joy. After a long day at school, I would immediately run home and play school with my Barbie’s and teach them what I had learned in class earlier that day. It was …show more content…
I faced so many obstacles that I never imagined I would have ever had to face. I have learned so much just over these past few months of this semester, and I will continue to learn so much more in my studies, as well as in my future teachings. My knowledge, myself, and my philosophy will continue evolve and change every day as I continue to gain more experience as an educator. Moving forward in my career, I hope to stay open minded about my teachings, and remind myself not to be afraid to make alterations to them whenever needed. I hope to remember and hold onto all of the valuable information that I have learned over the course of this semester. And Lastly I hope to remember to stay humble, continue my desire of being a lifelong learner, and remember why I wanted to become an educator so many years

This year has been a crazy one. I came from a public school, not knowing anyone, so I terrified and didn't know what to expect. I struggled with trusting others, time management and battling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, I had a lot of practice throughout the year. For instance when we had to record a News Show for Mr.Mora's class, I was faced with all of these problems.…

The idea that “a teacher affects eternity” presented by Henry Adams is a powerful one that has always made me stop and pause. Coming from a family of teachers, I have always had much respect for the profession and admired my relatives who have given countless hours, wisdom, and love to their students. I have been fortunate to witness firsthand the idea that Adams has put forth, as I have seen my mom and other relatives truly impact their now adult students. Because of this inspiration, I have decided to pursue teaching and want to better understand the education I will need to become one and what life looks like as a teacher. To understand what the life of a teacher is like, I will gain information about education, day-to-day interaction, and…

Then I plan to become a teacher and help shape the minds of students who are less fortunate and to give them a life to believe in. Through education and life lessons I hope they can achieve their dreams by believing in themselves. I believe that my leadership abilities, courage, kindness, and nurturing would impact my ability to fulfill my dreams. Some of examples of when I have used these qualities are I am always willing to volunteer. For example, I worked at a summer camp mostly five days a week, organized a cancer benefit in third grade, hosted a stuffed animal drive for young cancer patients, and raised over 10k for my local community.…

The first quarter of second semester is going really well. In the beginning of January, I got accepted into my first choice college, Sonoma State University, which makes me feel euphoric. I will be majoring in Criminology/Criminal Justice and it is an impacted major, but my very good GPA and ACT scores got me into it. I am very excited for what is to come, once school starts, in August. The campus has aspects of beauty ubiquitously placed all around.…

When i first came to Baltimore I was thirteen and didn't have a care in the world about anything except for the fact that I'm leaving all my friends in South Carolina. Once I got to Baltimore and got settled in things were still really difficult getting use too. I had an extremely strict mother who I bumped heads with all the time and on the other hand I had to deal with the kids from school teasing me because I had a really strong southern accent. As I got older and started high school I became familiar with the wrong crowd of friends, I started skipping school and things got worse at home with me and my mother.…

These last four years have been a whirlwind for me. Between school, gymnastics, extra curricular activities, work, cheer, and many more activities I have to say I have been very busy throughout my high school years. There has been ups and downs, yet through all of them I have learned valuable lessons that I will take with me as I go off to college. I tried to challenge myself each year in a different way, being able to look back and reflect on them is a great way to see how far I’ve come since that first day as a freshman on crutches nervous as all get-out to attend Auburn Riverside High School. Freshman year, I started off the first month of school on crutches, and the following two months in a boot.…

As I'm sitting here in Sheetz at 8:58 PM, an overwhelming sense of anxiety is clouding me right now. As Dr. Martin noted at the beginning of the school year, mid-terms are a painful time of the year. At the time I didn't think much of his thoughts, and that notion was unimportant to me. Mid-terms have been a painful time of the year to say the least. After reviewing the content of the class at the beginning of the year, I was honestly intrigued about the work I would be putting in.…

I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…
