This PIR device only accepts passively incoming infrared radiation, it doesn’t emit infrared radiation. PIR detects presence of intruder and it generate pulse which is read by MCU. So, embedded surveillance system determine the results obtain from sensor and then it decide whether to start web camera to capture image [4]. when presence of intruder get detected ,sensor wake up MCU which is in sleeping state to start power supply to indoor sensor and signal transmission to GPIO system. Here we design an embedded based home surveillance system using infrared motion detector and RISC based microcontroller using embedded c language .This infrared motion detector will sense any intruder with 7 feet and then it send SMS through GSM modem to authorized …show more content…
Fig. 2 shows PIR sensor. When any warm body like human or any other animal passes in area of sensor it firstly intercept one half of PIR sensor which causes positive differential changes between two valves. When this pass body leaving to that area reverse condition happened , where as it generates negative differential change .This positive and negative differential change that is pulse which is detected .To cover much larger area ,detection lens is split up in to number of multiple sections ,each section is called as Fresnel lens[4].This PIR sensor has range of approximately 7 feet i.e. 84 inches.

B. ATMEGA 328 microcontroller

Today Atmega 328 commonly used in many projects and autonomous system where simple low powered ,low cost microcontroller is needed. Atmega xx8 family of AVR devices Atmega 48,88,168 ,328.they are similar in that they have identical input /output. They have 3 timer :two 8 bit and one 16 bit. They differ an amount of memory available with flash memory size of of 4kb to 32 kb. Most popular member of family are Atmega 168 and 328 .The Atmega 168 was used in midrange aurdino boards. latest is 328 .Where as Atmega 48 does not support boot loader. Atmega 168/328 on aurdino comes preburned with boot loader that allows to upload new code to it without use of external hardware
