Becoming Myself In High School

High school is an up and down battle for a student. Being involved can sometimes be challenging between managing grades, family or social relationships, and extracurricular activities. In addition to this, senior year can especially be a stress filled year considering the life-altering decisions adults pressure students into. Yet, I have made it my mission to find a way to balance school, life, and staying involved. If I were not to push myself beyond just simply showing up at school I would never be as successful as I am today. To begin with, I will start with all of the school activities I have participated in through my junior and senior year of high school. Secondly, I have also been a member of the Student Leadership Team at C-TEC for the past two years. I am most proud of my participation in this club. I say this because it has been an incredible learning experience. With being involved, I have grown to learn how to be a leader and embrace the qualities expected from a leader. I also got the chance to experience speaking in front of crowds and being someone who others follow. Another great opportunity I have thrown myself into is the social studies club and Newark Youth Council. Both are intriguing and allow me to stay involved with the local government system. Furthermore, I;m a member of National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. I enjoy being a part of both of the organizations because they give me the chance to …show more content…
I have also spent many hours working for the Licking County Health Department, Licking County Humane Society, and a local nursing home. Overall, these exposures have prepared me for not only college but life as well. I am beyond ready to start the next stage of my life at The University of Akron. I’m ready to change up my involvement somewhere else and continue to grow as an

Through student council I have worked closely with my teachers and advisors to better my school by bringing our student body together for events such as pep rallies and competitive games during homecoming week. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. National Honor Society has also helped me gain connections with our local Special Olympics where I volunteered this past year and plan to continue volunteering. Statistically speaking, rich children have a better chance of completing school and continuing to a degree than poor children do. According to Julia B.
