Having good English speaking is very essential especially for the students because it becomes the bridge for them to know the world. Now, the newest curriculum also stated that English as a language of global science, technology, and business should be taught communicatively at students of college or university. The students of college or university graduate are expected to be able to communicate English well. It means that speaking is the primary competence to develop. Additionally, in this technique ‘storytelling’ learner may share experience and learn from others' wisdom, beliefs, and values. Besides that, stories build blocks of knowledge and it is the foundation of memory and learning, lastly, stories connect people to the past, present and the future (Barzaq, 2009:6-7). Storytelling has been discussed and recommended by some experts, such as Abrahamson (1998) who argues that storytelling forms the very foundation of the teaching profession and storytelling can be used as a learning strategy for build a more personal learning environment and one that allows learners to make meaningful and genuine reflections as they link old knowledge with new knowledge (Heo, 2004). The purpose of storytelling itself is to provide a motivating and low anxiety context for language learning. According to the woodhouse (2000), Storytelling requires visualization skills and may not suit everyone’s learning style and also can make Students require a safe environment and may feel uncomfortable to share their stories because the topics may challenge personal values and therefore be threatening. However, I disagree with it. Storytelling can affective to improve student’s ability in speaking.
