Storyboard can be simplified as sketches of the imagination. It is used in film to create a benchmark on how the story would look like. The process of beginning a storyboard is different from various directors. Some directors prefer to create the storyboard early in order to strengthen the visualizations of the idea. Storyboard is presented to help visualize the concept and idea before deciding to continue with the production.

These genres apply the same elements but are used differently. For example, a horror film and an action film storyboard use all the same elements, but how they are used in the storyboard itself differs distinctly. In a horror film storyboard, the element of story is very detailed throughout the film. It is to tell the audience how the character gets involved in the situation. The element of character in the film storyboard needs to show fear. Horror film tends to have a slow paced time frame. The location that is in the storyboard is somewhat dark and noir to give the audience a hint of fear. The element of dialogue however, is very detailed. This is to explain to the audience the story of the film. The shots used in the film always try to show the character’s fear in the film. In an action film storyboard, the story is quite straightforward. The characters in the storyboard often show aggression. It has a fast paced time frame as it is to give the audience adrenaline rush. The element of dialogue always uses harsh words and is presented in anger. The settings and the location of the storyboard is usually in well-lit places and the camera always uses a fast cut technique, giving a heart pumping action scene to the
