Significance of the concept Social rehabilitation can be defined as the achievement of a higher level of social and mental balance in people with mental disorders or disabilities, this services aim to help or assist criminal offenders to establish a new way of life. As nurses we work in hospital setting and the community based health care setting it therefore the duty of the nurse to enlighten the members of the community on the importance of social rehabilitation for member of the community that are socially imbalance. The nurse as the patients advocate can request for referral to rehabilitation centres any patient or client that will benefit from the services.
Home visit to create awareness in collaboration with community leaders and other healthcare and social workers will enhance the knowledge of rehabilitation and give them the will power to access the services. The nurse have to develop the necessary skills required for the teaching and educating the public on the essentials of social rehabilitation.
